Now that the results are in from the Parliamentary and District elections Labour supporters are picking ourselves up and looking to the future.
In Central Devon we can be positive about some things. Labour's share of the vote in this area doubled, the party has an appetite for change, and although we will need to work hard we have had some marvellous support during the election and will build on it for the future.
In the Parliamentary election Lynne Richards had 6,985 votes, 13% of the total. She was professional, dealt with some difficult challenges and her campaign generated respect and and support across the constituency.
We are proud of you Lynne - thank you very much.
We had more District Council Candidates than ever before and they acquitted themselves well, offering a credible alternative to the right wing candidates. We are grateful to them all for putting themselves forward, for the work they put in and for extending our base for the future.
Thanks to everyone who stood, voted, supported and was proud to be Labour.
