Although, like you, we are disappointed at election result, we are determined to continue to communicate the policies and principles of the Labour Party in our local constituency, provide a credible option for local people, and do what we can to return a Labour Government at the next election.
Thank you to everyone who helped our campaigning over the last few months, with special thanks to Lynne Richards for being such a superb Parliamentary Candidate, to Justin who worked tirelessly as the agent. Lynne came third overall in the Parliamentary Candidate vote (only 186 votes behind UKIP and 342 ahead of the Lib Dems). Thanks also to our District Council Candidates who added Labour's name to the local election's ballot paper and gave the voters a wider choice of candidates. We worked hard to cover as many areas as possible, but we always welcome any new members willing to stand for the Labour Party in their area.
Forty seven new members and supporters have joined the Labour Party in Central Devon during May – a warm welcome to you all. We have managed to speak to some of you already and hope to contact all of you over the next few weeks to personally welcome you to our constituency group.
