New Year, new events

2016.jpgThere's lots to look forward to in 2016.  A new series of events has been arranged in Central Devon, including meetings, socials, training and debates.  All are open to all events (although please check that you're eligible to attend the Police and Crime Commissioner nomination).

Central Devon Constituency Labour Party meetings

Thursday 21st Jan 2016 at 7.30pm at 26b Clifton Hill, Exeter.  The main item on the agenda will be discussion of our CLP 2016 Strategic Plan - please let us have ideas before the meeting.

Saturday 6th Feb 10.00 am– 12.30 at 26b Clifton Hill, Exeter to nominate Police and Crime Commissioner candidate

Our CLP will hold a ballot meeting to vote for candidates for selection of the PCC candidate on Saturday 6th Feb at 26b Clifton Hill.  Only those who were fully paid up members, and had been members for six months or more on the 20th October 2015 (the freeze date specified by the NEC) will be eligible to vote at this meeting.

January 12th - From Danger to Safety? 7:00pm for 7:30pm start at Exeter Labour Party Offices, 26b Clifton Hill

An evening to get to the issues behind the headlines of the migrant crisis - with first-hand testimonial from Syria, and speakers from the Refugee Support Group Devon, lead councillors and Refugee Kindness Exeter. There will be opportunities to ask questions and explore ways to help. Light refreshments from 7:00 pm


Wednesday January 13th 6.30 pm – Central Devon CLP social event

Please join us for informal socialising over a drink at The Globe, 39 Clifton Road, Exeter at6.30pm


Thursday 11th February 2016 at 26b Clifton Hill, Exeter at 7.30 pm - Andrew Thorpe, Professor of History at Exeter University will  speak on ‘Labour past and present: swings to (and from) the left in Labour’s history’

All welcome – a small entrance fee contribution will be collected at the door.


Friday 11th March 2016  Curry evening – Di and Charlie are hosting one of their infamous curry evenings to raise funds for our CLP.  This will be on at their home in Sandford near Crediton  - more details to follow but please hold the date in your diary. 




Members are invited to attend a training session on campaigning for the EU referendum.  The training session will cover what to expect on the doorstep, key topics and information to use, and how to deal with eurosceptics, the Daily Mail and UKIP.  You can sign up to attend via the South West Labour website.  The nearest training to us will be in Exeter on Saturday 23rd January, 2016. Devon Campaign Forum

The next meeting of Devon Campaign Forum will be on Saturday, 13th February, 2016, 10.30-1.00 pm at Clifton Hill, Exeter

This is an opportunity to discuss with other Labour Party supporters from across the County our local issues and the impact of spending cuts in our County.
